THE PRAYER OF FAITH

Hannah More Kohaus

The Prayer of Faith first appeared in Mrs. Myrtle Fillmore’s column, Wee Wisdom in August of 1898. She said that while she was in Chicago, she met the author Hanna More Kohaus, at which time she was given permission for prayer to be used by Unity. As years went by Mrs. Kohaus told Mrs. Fillmore the prayer was used and used, and many names put on it. But Truth will out, and finally credit was given to Mrs. Kohaus. Since that first publication, The Prayer of Faith has appeared thousands of times in Unity publications and elsewhere. As of 2008, the Unity Archives does not have biographical information about Kohaus.

God is my help in every need;

God does my every hunger feed;

God walks beside me, guides my way

Through every moment of the day.

I now am wise, I now am true,

Patient, kind, and loving too.

All things I am, can do, and be

Through Christ, the Truth that is in me.

God is my health, I can't be sick;

God is my strength, unfailing, quick;

God is my all, I know no fear,

Since God and love and Truth are here.
